Baton Rouge High Students Climb Mountains for Math!

Mrs. Sharon Besson and Mrs. Doris Parrino took nine students from BRMHS to compete at the Mu Alpha Theta National Convention in Fort Collins, Colorado in July.Mu Alpha Theta is the National Honors Mathematics Society which is an organization dedicated to promoting scholarship in mathematics and establishing math as an integral part of high school and junior college education.
Over 600 students from 45 schools throughout the nation, including Hawaii, and Souel, Korea competed. All had a wonderful time competing, site seeing, socializing, and making new friends from around the country.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
