Best Buy to hand out cash awards to 2 EBR Schools

Two East Baton Rouge Parish schools will receive a cash award from Best Buy. The company rewards schools and school districts which use technology to excite and engage students. The Best Buy Teach Awards grants winning applicants a $2,500 dollar prize. Individual teachers must display how they use technology in support of education in their classrooms. The 2007 winners in EBR include: Sarah Harris, Capitol Pre-College Academy for Girls and Cheryl Donnelly, Westdale Heights Academic Magnet.
On March 24, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. Best Buy will host an event to reward the winners.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
