EBR Students Named Semifinalists in the 2008 National Achievement Scholarship Program

Baton Rouge- Eight East Baton Rouge Parish School System students have been named Semifinalists in the 2008 National Achievement Scholarship Program. All of the Semifinalists attend Baton Rouge Magnet High School. The National Achievement Scholarship program recognizes promising African-American students throughout the nation.
The program is conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Program. The students selected as Semifinalists have an opportunity to receive thousands of dollars in scholarships. They qualify for the award based on their Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test performance.
The EBR students named Semifinalists are:

Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
