First Lady Jindal Reads to Dufrocq Students for Read for the Record Jindal and Pearson Foundations Also Donate Whiteboards to School

“Llama Llama Red Pajama” was the book of the day October 6 at The Dufrocq School as Louisiana First Lady Supriya Jindal (pictured, standing) read to kindergarten students using Whiteboard technology. Her efforts were part of Jumpstart’s Read for the Record Program, which is sponsored nationally by the Pearson Foundation.
The event included free copies of the book for every child in attendance plus red llama-shaped cookies for refreshments. In addition, The Supriya Jindal Foundation and the Pearson Foundation donated two Active Whiteboards and mobile units to the school.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
