Belaire Teacher Named One Of BR Business Report’s Top Forty Under 40

A Belaire High School Math and Social Studies teacher, Daniel Kahn, has been named one of The Baton Rouge Business Report's Top Forty Under 40. The annual award is given to those under 40 across the Capital Region who achieve success and influence decisions. More than 180 people were nominated in 2008. He was recognized in part because Kahn and a small group of Teach for America members started the Baton Rouge Youth Coalition. It mobilizes financial education and resources teens need and helps them get started in educational and career endeavors.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
