About 75 Male Students Line Up for Free Back-to-School Haircuts

The hallway was lined with chairs as male students and their parents waited in line Monday morning, August 8, at Crestworth Elementary School. As part of its back-to-school kick-off to “shape young minds,” the school provided free haircuts for male students from Crestworth and Westminster elementary schools. As students like fifth grader Deonta Gibson (pictured, sitting) got a complementary haircut from Tremaine Walker (standing) of Cozy Style Barber and Beauty Shop, parents and guardians received back-to-school information and filled out emergency contact cards.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
