Local Churches Donate School Supplies to Bernard Terrace Elementary
- Aug 10, 07
Pastors and representatives of two Baton Rouge churches were on the Bernard Terrace Elementary campus on the first day of school, and they came with a hefty donation. Istrouma Baptist Church and Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church donated backpacks and other school supplies to students who needed them. The donations were part of a partnership the churches plan to continue with the school throughout the year.
Students lined up with smiles on their faces ready to pick out the perfect backpack and stuff it with supplies. “Many of the students come to school empty handed and it is good for them to have these supplies. It helps to build their self-esteem,” said Principal Deborah Daniels. There were about 200 backpacks available for students.
