Various teachers from Banks Elementary School finally completed the complicated task of finalizing their Take One entries for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards last week and celebrated by packing up the forms, videos and classroom-based research during a “Pack the Box” party on April 7.
As the teachers culled through and filled out the mounds of paperwork necessary to apply for national certification, they enjoyed pizza, drinks and snacks. Then they assembled forms representing the culmination of a year’s worth of job-embedded staff development with Banks Elementary faculty and packed them off for mailing.
Involved in the party were Banks Elementary teachers: (front row, left to right) Francesca Vergara, Sarahann Miller, Robert Marks, Arvin Dones, (second row, left to right) Valencia Johnson, Deborah Baumann, Sydney Hebert, Brittany Hutchinson, Katie Dyess, Edie Gill, (third row, left to right) Marvin Harris, Corinne Veach and Sandi Bourque. Joining them (at the very end of the third row) was Jill Saia of the school district’s Professional Development Department.
