Press Release: East Baton Rouge Parish School Board Votes in Favor of Employee Pay Raise

EASTBATONROUGEPARISHSCHOOL BOARD VOTES IN FAVOR OF EMPLOYEE PAY RAISE
Members of the Parish School Board voted in favor of a salary increase for school employees. Following last night’s vote, parish teachers will receive a salary increase of $1,200.00 and certificated administrative employees will receive a salary increase of $1,800.00. In addition, the school system’s support staff will receive an increase anywhere from $450.00 to $600.00 depending on the number of months they work.
Charlotte Placide, Superintendent of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, reiterated her support for all school employees.“We truly appreciate all the hard work that each individual does for the school system and students of East Baton Rouge Parish,” said Placide. “We will continue to look for resources to recruit and retain highly qualified teachers and support staff.”
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
