Students Full of Talent for BRCVPA Variety Show

The Baton Rouge Center for the Visual & Performing Arts (BRCVPA) School held its first ever Variety Show February 9.Students and staff alike enjoyed 31 acts, ranging from dancing, singing and playing instruments, like the piano, violin and drums, to hula hoop, comedy and magic acts.The sister-brother team of Kaelin (pictured, left, second grade) and Chance (right, fourth grade) Fillastre performed a tap dance routine.Originally, more than 80 acts tried out for the grades K-5 auditions
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
