EBRPSS Students Participate in Earth Day Science Demonstrations

Students from across the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) participated last Sunday, April 18, in the downtown Baton Rouge Earth Day celebration.
Exxon/Mobil provided the funding and tent set-ups for students, like these pictured from Baton Rouge Magnet High School, to participate in interactive, educational activities. Baton Rouge High students and their teacher, Laurie Horton, demonstrated a model of a scrubber, which is a device used in factories to neutralize carbon dioxide emissions.
Besides this high school, schools participating were: Glasgow Middle, Northeast High, Istrouma High, EBR Laboratory, Scotlandville Magnet High and Glen Oaks High schools
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
