Baton Rouge Magnet High School Lands on NEWSWEEK Magazines List of Best High Schools in America

Only High School in the Area to Make the List
NEWSWEEK magazine ranked Baton Rouge Magnet High School (BRMHS) as one of the top 500 high schools in America in a list released recently. More than 1,100 top High Schools across the country applied to be listed as America’s best and only 500 High Schools were included in this prestigious list. BRMHS is ranked 122nd.
NEWSWEEK has been ranking the top high schools in America for more than a decade. Each school is scored in the areas of graduation rates, college matriculation rate, Advanced Placement test taken per graduate, average SAT/ACT scores, Average Advanced Placement/International Baccalaureate/Advanced International Certificate of Education scores and Advance Placement courses offered.

Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
