National Business Association Awards District Certificate of Excellence

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System and its Finance Office have been honored with a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting Award by the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International. The award is for fiscal year ending June 30, 2008.
This award represents a very significant achievement and reflects the district’s commitment to the highest standards of school system financial reporting. ASBO’s Certificate of Excellence Review Panel recommended the School System for the award per its annual report.
The Association of School Business Officials International is a professional association that provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices, professional growth and the effective use of educational resources. Founded in 1910, ASBO International has nearly 6,000 school business management professionals as members.
With an average budget oversight of $107 million annually, ASBO International members are the finance decision makers in school districts around the world. ASBO members are employed in K-12 school districts, community colleges, universities and state departments of education.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
