As part of the school systems focus on improving student literacy, the superintendent asked students across the district to “get caught up” in reading. Many of them participated in “Charlotte’s Reading Web”.
The club provides an opportunity for students in grades pre-K through 5th to enjoy reading for pleasure. Appropriate book titles were selected for each grade level and students were encouraged to maintain a reading log. They also completed activities related to their readings and submitted them to the superintendent for judging.
There are three groups of students participating in the reading club. The first place winners in Group 1 will receive a gift pack sponsored by Neighbors Federal Credit Union, which includes a movie pass, a $25 dollar gift certificate and other prizes. All students who participate will receive a certificate from the superintendent and a book mark.
The following first place winners will appear at the January 18th school board meeting to receive their prizes and present their work in front of the audience:
