More EBRPSS College Merit Scholarship Winners Announced

Five more students from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System have won College-sponsored Merit Scholarships.
They are Casey A., University of Florida, Russell P., TulaneUniversity, Jennifer K., LouisianaStateUniversity, Omkar N., LouisianaStateUniversity, and Daniel P., University of Florida, all from Baton RougeMagnetHigh School.
They join Benjamin B. from McKinleyHigh School, University of Oregon,and Matthew C. from Central High School, Louisiana State University who were previously announced as winners in late May.
Officials of each sponsor college selected winners of its scholarships from among Finalists in the nationwide competition who plan to attend their institution.
College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
In addition to the College-sponsored scholarships, eight other students from East Baton Rouge Parish Schools have won two other types of Merit Scholarship awards, corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards and National Merit $2500 Scholarships.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
