The School System’s Communications & Community Engagement Department was recognized recently for its outstanding newsletters.The National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) awarded the department an Honorable Mention for its external electronic newsletter eNews and an Award of Merit for its external print newsletter Education Matters.Department Director Chris Trahan and former Public Information Officer Kami McDonald created the newsletters during the 2007-2008 school year.
The national NSPRA Gold Medallion Awards, Publications and Electronic Media Contest is held annually.School districts and public education communications professionals from across the nation who are members of this professional organization are eligible to compete in the Contest.The awards will be handed out at NSPRA’s annual meeting July 6-9 in Washington, D.C.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
