Local Company Donates Craft Equipment to Robert E. Lee High School

Excel, a national industrial contractor, donated a new $4,000.00 “Saw Stop” on January 16, 2008 to RobertE.LeeHigh School for their carpentry program.Using cutting edge technology, the table saw is scientifically designed to prevent accidents.Steve Gautreau, Excel’s Manager of Training and Recruiting presented the saw to Principal, David Phillips and Carpentry Teacher, Jimmy Taylor of LeeHigh School.Robert Clouarte, Director of Education and Training for Associated Builders and Contractors was also present.
Excel, in partnership with ABC Pelican chapter, sponsor and work closely with area high schools in southern Louisiana throughout the school year as part of the Louisiana Workforce development process.“This sponsorship program provides important training aid, material and equipment to our states young students that would not otherwise be possible,” said Gautreau.This program affords students the opportunity to learn a skill while attending high school, which will better prepare them for the workforce upon graduation.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
