EBR Lab Coach Jackson Wins Sports Equipment for School

East Baton Rouge Lab Academy coach Paul Jackson, the school’s dean of students and athletic director, is the recipient of a Good Sports Equipment Grant. The award package, valued at more than $9,382, includes six basketballs, four track-and field-discuses, 10 golf balls, two ball pumps, 73 team basketball warm-up suits and 15 golf clubs.
Good Sports is a non-profit organization that distributes sports equipment, footwear and apparel to schools and community organizations that offer athletic programs to disadvantaged youth. The donations are made possible through partnerships with sporting manufacturers like New Balance, Nike and Reebok. Since 2003, the Foundation has provided more than $4.5-million worth of equipment and impacted more than 250,000 students.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
