Hundreds of School District Employees, Retirees Turn Out for Free Health Fair
- August 5, 2011
Hundreds of employees and retirees of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) donated blood, had their vision checked, heard about financial planning options, sat down for blood pressure checks and received information about nutrition, prescription plans and health insurance options Tuesday, August 2, during the System’s Employee Health Fair.
The third annual event was free and hosted by the EBRPSS Payroll and Benefits Department, which invited almost 6,000 EBRPSS employees, their family members and School System retirees to the fair. Vendors providing information during the Health Fair included: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, Lincoln Financial Group, Medco Health, VALIC and others. Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center’s Blood Donor Center headed up the blood drive, and those giving blood were eligible for one of four gift cards for free gasoline valued at $250 each. That, plus the opportunity to do a good deed, was enough to entice School System Chief Financial Officer James Crochet (pictured) to donate blood during the drive.
