Eden Park Elementary School Hosts Family Night

Baton Rouge, La- Parents and guardians of Eden Park Elementary students filled the school’s gymnasium on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, for the spring Family Night Program. The guest speaker was nationally recognized parental involvement expert Dr. Willie J. Kimmons.
Dr. Kimmons delivered a motivational message to the group, encouraging parents and guardians to set high goals and a good example for their children. He has written four books on areas such as child rearing and strategies to improve parenting skills and school success. During his message Dr. Kimmons challenged parents not to accept less than the best for their students.
This is the second Family Night Program hosted by Eden Park Principal Joni Rolle this year. She says more than 200 parents attended the Family Night event in February.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
