Students from Glasgow Middle School swept the top four spots in the art portion of the Art and Language Arts contest sponsored by ALCOA, the Governor's Office of Environmental Education, and the Louisiana Environmental Education Commission.
The theme was "Louisiana: Trees of the Forestland." The overall winner was Jessica E. who received $250 for her winning entry, 1st place and $100 went to Wasana H., Jaclyn W. won second place and $75, and Dominique G won 3rd place and $50.
All four were honored and recognized at the Governor's Mansion by Mr. Raymond Blanco. The students are under the instruction of Ms. Greeta Dave, Talented Visual Art Program, Glasgow Middle School.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
