Glasgow Middle School Talented Art Students Rank Number 1 Nationwide in Movie Promotion Contest

The artwork of Glasgow Middle School talented art students surpassed the creations of hundreds of other students to claim the top prize in the Dreamworks/Paramount promotion of the movie “Over the Hedge”.
Glasgow students participated in the promotion of the movie by displaying their artwork in the Celebrity Theatre in Broussard, La. Last spring, art teacher Geeta Dave was instrumental in getting Glasgow Middle School involved in the project. The students created extremely large characters which hung in the lobby of the theater.
The artwork displayed by the Glasgow students was recently voted the #1 manager’s promotion in the United States by Dreamworks/Paramount. Congratulations Glasgow students on a job well done!
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
