Glasgow Middle School Student Wins Locally, to Move on to National Chemical Society Poster Contest 1026

Artwork by a Glasgow Middle School student has won the Baton Rouge Section of the American Chemical Society’s Poster Contest and will go on to compete at the national level in Washington, D.C. The poster by student Karen Liao (photo) took top honors, and the first-place award included $50 for the student, $100 for the teacher and $250 for the school. Other Glasgow Middle School student winners included:

Lucia Lian $15 student award
6th Grade Student Award
Stephenie Wang $15 student award

Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
