School System Teams up with Health Care Centers in Schools and Lens Crafters in Providing Eyeglasses

Beginning, December 4, 2006, and continuing through Wednesday, December 6, 2006, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System will partner with the Health Care Centers in Schools and LensCrafters for a three day mission to provide free eye exams and eyeglasses for area students. The students selected to receive free eyeglasses have been identified by schools with the highest need for aid. Close to 200 students are expected to receive new eyeglasses during this years drive.
The "Vision Van" mobil clinic visited the Instructional Resource Center at 1022 S. Foster Drive on Monday, December 04, 2006. The "Vision van" will visit the Sharp Station at 3000 N. Sherwood Forest Drive on Tuesday, December 5 and Wednesday, December 6, 2006 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
This year, the Vision Van will be seeing students from the following schools: Scotlandville Elementary, Howell Park Elementary, Eden Park Elementary, Northeast Elementary, Park Forest Elementary, La Belle Aire Elementary, Villa Del Rey Elementary, Broadmoor Elementary School, Shenandoah Elementary School, Wedgewood Elementary School, Audubon Elementary School, Parkview Elementary School, Prescott Middle School, Park Forest Middle School, Broadmoor Middle School, Southeast Middle School, Woodlawn Middle School, and Northeast High School.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
