Glen Oaks High Holds First Security Dads Appreciation Gala
- 01/22/2010
Glen Oaks High School honored about 35 fathers recently during the first annual The Glen Oaks High School Security Dads Appreciation Gala with Principal Wilbert August. Formed about 15 years ago, the Security Dads program began as a gathering of students’ fathers and then was modeled after a Security Dads program in Indiana.
Program members serve as extra security around the school, male role models, dance chaperones, lunch monitors and more. They also make periodic donations to the school. The event, hosted by the Glen Oaks High School Parent Teacher Association (PTA), had several attendees, including: JROTC instructor Sgt. Michael Gibson, August, PTA President Ro-Montee Williams McCray, PTA Vice President Pamela Fortner and The Security Dads President Tommie Stout, among many others.
