Teacher Shaves Her Head for Greenbrier Elementary School’s Mohawk Madness
- December 14, 2009
Greenbrier Elementary School’s fifth-grade boys out-wrote and out-scored the girls on the fourth-grade LEAP writing assessment last year. The school’s writing consultant, Ms. Leslie Young, promised to shave her head into a Mohawk hairstyle and dye it green if they beat the girls, and this week it was time to pay the piper. Young (center), surrounded by fifth-grade boys, smiled as students making scissors signs with their fingers chanted “Cut, Cut, Cut!” Local barber Troy Cook did the honors. Students in grades 3-5 attended the event in the school gym, and the fifth-grade boys enjoyed a pizza party afterwards.
