Groundbreaking for 2 New Middle Schools

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System celebrated another milestonefor the children with two Groundbreaking ceremonies; Southeast Area Middle and McKinley Middle. More than 150 community members joined East Baton Rouge Parish School Board Members and Superintendent Charlotte Placide in the celebration.
The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Southeast Area MiddleSchool was held Wednesday, Feb 23, 2005 at 9:30 at the Old Woodlawn site. Project Overview
The Groundbreaking Ceremony for new McKinley MiddleSchool was held on Friday Feb. 25, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. on the old McKinley Middle School site. Currently, McKinley Middle students are being housed at Capitol Middle. Project Overview
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
