Chief Academic Officer Robert Stockwell presents results of the Strategic Accountability Plan to the Guiding Coalition
The group of community leaders charged with overseeing the East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s (EBRPSS) Strategic Accountability Plan (SAP) received their first look at the 2005-2006 results. Superintendent Charlotte D. Placide and administrative staff presented the progress the district has made in student achievement, and identified the challenges that remain.
On Tuesday, August 21, the group met in the EBRPSS Boardroom. The presentation focused on objective one, which is to increase student achievement. Chief Academic Officer Robert Stockwell explained the data which compared EBRPSS student’s LEAP and iLEAP percent proficient scores to statewide scores.
This is the second meeting of the coalition. The members are: Stephen Moret, CEO Baton Rouge Area Chamber; Stan Vanderleeuw, Refinery Manager, ExxonMobil Baton Rouge; Norman Thompson, President, Neighbors Federal Credit Union; Mayor-President Melvin “Kip” Holden; Chancellor Sean O’Keefe, Louisiana State University; Dr. Edward Jackson, Chancellor, Southern University Baton Rouge; Dr. Myrtle Dorsey, Chancellor, Baton Rouge Community College; Dr. Jayne Fleener, Dean College of Education, Louisiana State University; Mary Bergeron, Parent Representative; Herbert Gomez, Executive Vice-President, Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors.
EBRPSS understands that providing positive academic and social outcomes for children in our community takes dedication from every sector. So, EBRPSS has worked to build strong and lasting partnerships with local business, civic, and education leaders. With the implementation of its Strategic Accountability Plan, EBRPSS established this external group of leaders. Their purpose is to monitor the progress of the district and to serve as advocates for the district.
The Guiding Coalition’s next meeting will focus on the 2006-2007 results of the Strategic Accountability Plan.
