- Mar 30, 07
Baton Rouge, LA – 55 organizations from around the State of Louisiana received a portion of donated goods from Feed the Children, Inc. On Friday, March 30, 2007, two 18 wheelers filled with donated goods drove into Baton Rouge for the massive giveaway.
The East Baton Rouge Parish School System Homeless Program spearheaded the effort to get the books, toiletries, food and other supplies to the area.
The distribution benefited groups who serve homeless and displaced families. Representatives from feed the children plan to return within the next six months with more supplies after seeing the large turnout.
Volunteers from local social organizations, the Army National Guard and the young men from Youth Challenge provided assistance as agencies loaded their trucks, trailers and vans with the goods.
