Jefferson Terrace Holds Annual Science Fair
- April 2, 2009
On Thursday, March 19, 2009, Jefferson Terrace Elementary students participated in their second annual Science Fair. Teachers collaborated and decided that this would be a very important project based assignment to help exposure students in grades 3rd – 5th to the scientific method.
LEAP and iLEAP is closely approaching and students would not have been exposed to the content if we used the regular curriculum and pacing guides. Teachers had to think out of the box and come up with an activity that would help engage students while teaching them the material needed to help fulfill the needs in this content area.
The Fair was a huge success. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and community members gathered to support our students. Mrs. Dominique, Director of Elementary Programs, Area 1, served nachos, along with the Assistant Principal, Janet Harris. Mrs. Adebutu, Principal, made punch and assisted parents. Students also dressed as scientist and gave information as parents viewed the exhibits.
