When: Begins Monday, January 28, and Is Ongoing
Where: All Elementary Schools
The Kindergarten Registration Period begins Monday, January 28, at all East Baton Rouge Parish School System elementary schools. It will be ongoing during school day hours. This is a chance to register incoming kindergarten students for the 2013-2014 school year.
Children must be at least 5 years old by September 30 to be eligible for school slots as first-time kindergarteners for our School System. Registration packets are available at home elementary schools.
To apply, the following documents are required – child’s birth certificate, child’s Social Security card, parents’ photo identification, child’s up-to-date immunization card and two current bills with the parent’s same address.

Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
