EBR Librarians Receive Grants from NEA Books Across America
- Feb 26, 07
Two librarians in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System have won a national library book contest. The NEA Books Across America Library Books Awards has honored University Terrace Elementary School Librarian Lavern Simoneaux and Prescott Middle School Librarian Carol Ann Brakins. Each school will receive $5,000 to purchase books for their libraries.
The NEA Foundation awards this money to public schools serving economically disadvantaged students. The donation is made in collaboration with the National Education Association. The 2007 NEA’s Books Across America Library Books Awards are made possible with support from individuals who donated to NEA’s Books Across America fund to bring the gift of reading to students affected by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma.
