Event to Provide Middle School Info on Gifted and Talented Programs

Focus on Middle School, an event showcasing the Gifted and Talented students and programs at middle schools, will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, at the Instructional Resource Center, 1022 S. Foster Dr. (next to the School System’s Central Office).
Sponsored by the Baton Rouge Association for Gifted and Talented Students, the public is invited to the event to get an overall view of the Gifted and Talented programs at Glasgow, Westdale and Woodlawn middle schools. Administrative representatives and students will present information about their schools. Parents interested in further information regarding Gifted, Talented, Scholastic Academy and/or Great Scholars programs at the middle school level are invited to attend. Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
