Northdale Academy Recognized for 25 Years of Service at Recent Metro Council Meeting

Northdale Alternative Magnet Academy was recognized and honored for the school’s 25th anniversary of educational service to the community by Councilwoman Donna Collins-Lewis during a December East Baton Rouge City-Parish Metro Council meeting.
Those present at the recognition were (left to right): Northdale Academy Principal Leroy Helire Jr., Collins-Lewis, Mayor Melvin “Kip” Holden, school Team Spirit member Demarcus Quinn and Senior Class President Bianca Scott.
Northdale Magnet Academy celebrated its 25th anniversary with a special homecoming reception on November 4. All graduates, community partners, friends and supporters attended the celebration for East Baton Rouge’s dropout prevention/dropout recovery high school.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
