Volunteers Show Up in Droves for VIPS, OLOL School Clean-Up

About 100 Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center (OLOL) employees, school staff and Reading Friend volunteers showed up at Wildwood Elementary School the morning of June 23. After getting organized and collecting their assigned shovels, paint rollers, tape and other tools, the volunteers set to work beautifying and cleaning up Wildwood Elementary School. The projects included interior and exterior painting, landscaping, creating a butterfly garden and library decorating. For instance, Tamara White (pictured), a billing manager with Our Lady of the Lake, repainted the yellow curbs and lines at the front entrance and parking lot.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
