Park Forest Middle School Golf Team Participates in Golf Tournament

Park Forest Middle School’s Golf Team, which consists of six students and coach Gerald Barber, teed off at the Knights of Peter Claver Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 8. The event was held at the Howell Park Golf Course.
After a nervous first nine-hole start that left the team 6 over par, the student golfers settled down and shot an impressive even par on the back nine. The team posted a combined score of 76. The team members are: Melvin Butler, Justin Coleman, Tyler James, Christian Jones, Myja Thompson and Chad Warr. Coleman (pictured in mid-swing) won a drawing for a $50 Jos a Bank Clothing Store gift certificate after the game.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
