Placide Honored At Retirement Reception

About 300 people honored Superintendent Charlotte Placide at her retirement reception held June 11 at Southern University’s Royal Cotillion Ballroom. Community leaders, politicians, school district staff, educational leaders, parents and pastors were on hand to recognize Placide for five years of service as superintendent. Pictured are (left to right): The Rev. Bland Washington, Angela Lee -- special assistant to the superintendent for Instructional Leadership, former School Board President Roger Moser, Louisiana Rep. Patricia Haynes Smith (former School Board president), Grady Hazel -- retired special assistant superintendent for Instructional Support, Superintendent Placide, School Board President Jerry Arbour and Westdale Middle School Principal Sherry Brock.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
