Grand Opening of Pre-College Academy at Capitol High

The new 9th Grade Pre-College Academy at Capitol High School will hold its Grand Opening Ceremony at 5 PM. on Friday, September 17, 2004. The festivities will begin with Charlotte Placide, Interim Superintendent of EBR Schools giving the opening remarks. Other guests include representatives from the EBR School Board; and from Southern University and Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund, both are Capitol High's partners in this rigorous school redesign project.
A reception and open house for parents will follow the Ribbon Cutting. Parents will have an opportunity to meet the staff and teachers as well as visit with teachers and tour the campus.
The festivities will conclude with a dance for Pre-College Academy students whose parents have attended the Grand Opening and Open House.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
