Pre-K Rally Kicks Off Registration

The parents came to register their children for school.The kids came for the ice cream.Any way you look at it, the Pre-K Registration Rally on Saturday, July 26, at EdenParkElementary School was a win-win situation.Sponsors included Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge Safety Council, HIPPY, Families Helping Families and Early Childhood Supports and Services.The event was just a kick-off, however, for ongoing pre-kindergarten registration in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.Registration continues week days in the schools for the 2008-2009 school year, which begins August 7.For more information, call Patience Travasos, preschool resource coordinator, at (225)355-6197.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
