Capitol High Pre-College Academy for Girls Celebrates Quiz Bowl Team Victory

The Capitol High Pre-College Academy for Girls Quiz Bowl Team is celebrating a stunning victory at the “Guide Right” quiz bowl sponsored by the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity at Southern University on March 10, 2007.
The team, comprised of five juniors, came back from losses in earlier rounds to win the grand prize. The Capitol High team climbed back from the loser’s bracket to defeat Baton Rouge Magnet High in the finals. The Baton Rouge High team had not lost any rounds previously, forcing the Capitol High team to beat them twice to win the competition.

Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
