Ryan Elementary Holds LEAP Rock Rally to Prepare Students for Test
- April 14, 2011
Ryan Elementary School students and staff were rockin’ and rollin’ April 8 in preparation for LEAP and iLEAP testing that began this week. The LEAP Rock Rally was organized to motivate students to perform to their highest potential on the LEAP and iLEAP tests.
Each class performed a cheer to get the students motivated about testing. The final performance was done by the principal, teachers and staff, “The Ryan Rockettes." They performed a special testing rendition of Michael Jackson's "Beat It."
Students and staff dressed as rock stars prepared to "De-Stress and Rock That Test!" That included super star students (left to right) Kelsey Square, Dwayne Mosby Jr., Kendrika Turner, Natiqua Johnson, Deamonta Whitfield and Brandon Morgan Jr.
“It has become a custom for our students to participate in an annual theme-inspired pep rally in preparation for statewide assessment. The students anxiously look forward to this event every year,” said Principal Darlene Brister. “This year, students, as well as the teachers and myself, dressed as rock stars, such as Tina Turner, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Michael Jackson, the members of the band KISS and more. This is an awesome way to get students to relax from their regular rigorous academic schedules in an effort to prepare them for their next levels of education and statewide testing.”
