Five EBR Students Awarded College Sponsored Merit Scholarships

Five Baton Rouge High School students were named among 2,300 students nationwide as additional winners of Merit Scholarship awards financed by colleges and universities. This week, National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced that these students join over 2,200 other college sponsored award recipients who were announced in May.
Sponsor colleges selected their winners from among Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program who will attend their institution. College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 a year for up to four years of undergraduate study.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
