Swearing-In Ceremony for East Baton Rouge Parish School Board Members

A Swearing-in Ceremony was held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 7, 2007 for new and returning School Board Members. A special board meeting was held immediately following the Swearing-in Ceremony.
Four newly elected members joined eight returning members for the Swearing-in Ceremony.
The new Board Members include:
Jonathan C. Augustine (District 5) Greg Baldwin (District 8) Vereta Lee (District 2) and Derrick W. Spell, M.D. (District 1)
Returning members include:
Jerry Arbour (District 9) William P. “Bill” Black (District 12) Jay Devall (District 11) Jill Dyason (District 10) Noel Hammatt – Vice President (District 7) Darryl L. Robertson (District 3) Patricia Haynes-Smith – President (District 6) Tarvald A. Smith (District 4)
The Swearing-in Ceremony took place at the Instructional Resource Center, adjacent to the school system central office. The Instructional Resource Center is located at 1022 South Foster Drive, Baton Rouge.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
