Hearing impaired students at LaSalle Elementary School got a special visitor Thursday, December 18 – a signing Santa Claus. Henry Brinkmann, a hearing impaired volunteer (pictured), dressed as Old St. Nick, handed out candy canes, asked the children what they wanted for Christmas in sign language and took holiday photos with the students. Student Albert Hall (in photo) signed to Santa that he wanted a ball for Christmas.
LaSalle Elementary is where a number of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s hearing impaired and deaf signing students are housed. There are about 20 elementaryage students in the program at this location.
