Things Are Looking Sunny for BRMHS Students’ Solar Car High School ‘Mechanics’ Demonstrate Car at Glasgow Middle School

Brain power, solar power and a little muscle are all that is needed to rev the engine of Baton Rouge Magnet High School’s solar car. Students on the Solar Car Team, under the sponsorship of teacher Peter Oelschlaeger and student captain Joey LeBlanc, have the car up and running at full force after years of design, engineering and production. On October 9 and 16, the team demonstrated how the car operates to students at Glasgow Middle School (photo), including the project’s problems associated with general science, engineering, solar energy, mathematics and more.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center).
