Scotlandville Pre-Engineering Teacher Wins Educator of Week Award

Kathie Johnson, the Magnet Program coordinator at Scotlandville Pre-Engineering Academy, received the Educator of the Week Award Wednesday, October 26, from the Louisiana Black Business Directory. The award was presented to Johnson (pictured, left) at the school by Directory representative Trey Gradnigo (right). The Louisiana Black Business Directory is the portal for a strong community and economic growth in the African-American community. It promotes and celebrates the accomplishments of black business and encourages the support of all small companies and corporations in an effort to increase economic strength in local neighborhoods.
Through its educator awards, the Louisiana Black Business Directory acknowledges teachers who have the enormous task of educating and caring for the community’s young people. Winners can be teachers, professors, principals or school support staff.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
