Professional Organizations Recognize Communications Project, Staff

Professional organizations have been giving recognition to East Baton Rouge Parish School System recently for its marketing campaign “We’ll Make You Think” and Communications Department staff.
At the Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF) conference held September 28 in Baton Rouge, the school district's "We'll Make You Think" 2010 Marketing Campaign was honored with an SPRF Award of Excellence in the area of Reputation/Brand Management/Issues Management at the 2010 SPRF awards ceremony.
In addition, Sonya T. Gordon, APR, who serves as public information officer for the district, was recognized with the SPRF Senior Practitioner Designation. The designation was established to honor members of SPRF who are recognized by their peers as veteran public relations professionals with high ethical standing.
The conference was sponsored by the Public Relations Association of Louisiana, where Chris Trahan, director for Communications & Community Engagement for the district,and Gordon serve on the Board of Directors.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
