SACS CASI Members Begin District Accreditation Process
- April 20, 2009
On April 19, members of the Southern Association of Colleges (SACS) and Schools' Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (CASI) arrived in Baton Rouge to begin their intensive three-day interview and data collection session. The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is seeking District Accreditation status through SACS/CASI. District Accreditation is the highest honor a school district in this region can obtain.
Twenty members of SACS CASI Quality Assurance Review (QAR) team, made up of educators from across the country, arrived in the East Baton Rouge Parish School District to hear an overview of the district from the Superintendent of Schools. Key school district stakeholders are being interviewed and data gathered over the next two days. The team will use the data collected through the school visits in formulating commendations and recommendations for the district as well as verification of the District’s compliance with the seven SACS CASI Accreditation Standards for Quality School Systems.
On Wednesday, April 22, a special board meeting is scheduled for 2:30 to hear the major conclusions set forth in the Oral Exit. This meeting is open to the public.
