East Baton Rouge Parish School Board Reviews Final Candidates for Superintendent Position

During a special School Board workshop on February 25, the search firm of Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates presented a list of three finalists seeking to replace current East Baton Rouge Parish School System Superintendent Charlotte D. Placide. Placide plans to retire June 30.

• Mr. John L. Dilworth – Superintendent of Montgomery County Schools, Montgomery, AL
• Dr. Bonita R. Coleman-Potter – Deputy Superintendent of Instruction, Jackson Public School District, Jackson, MS
In an effort to promote community input and discussion, the School Board has scheduled three School Board workshops on Monday, March 2; Tuesday, March 3; and Wednesday, March 4. These workshops begin with community forums at 4:30 pm each day and will take place at the Instructional Resource Center located at 1022 S. Foster Drive, Baton Rouge, LA. A special School Board meeting is scheduled to take place immediately following each forum.
Principal Brister in Washington, D.C., to Accept McKinley Middle School’s Second Blue Ribbon Award
On Tuesday, November 13, 2012, Principal Herman Brister (pictured, left) and the school’s Teacher of the Year, Lynn Williamson (right), were in Washington, D.C., accepting McKinley Middle Academic Magnet School’s National Blue Ribbon Award from U.S. Department of Education’s Director of National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Aba Kumi (center). The event, which recognized some 314 schools from across the United States, was held at the Omni Hotel. Click herefor story.
