East Baton Rouge Voters Pass Two School Tax Renewals
- Jul 23, 07
The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is pleased with the results of the election held Saturday. Superintendent Charlotte D. Placide thanked the community for supporting the renewal of the two propositions. “One of the great strengths of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System is support from our community, and I want to thank the East Baton Rouge Parish citizens for passing the two school-related tax renewals."
The renewals, which easily passed by 68%, extend taxes for another 10 years. The 7.14-mill property tax is expected to generate an estimated $15.8 million a year for salaries and benefits, while the 4.98-mill property tax is expected to generate an estimated $11 million a year to fund the school system's general operations and maintenance.
